Hank C.K. Wuh, MD, MPH
An inventor, orthopedic surgeon, and entrepreneur, Dr. Hank C.K. Wuh has led the development of more than twenty biomedical and consumer healthcare products from concept to commercial release. Dr. Wuh received his BA from Johns Hopkins University, MPH from Harvard University, and MD from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He currently serves as the Founder and CEO of SKAI Ventures LLC, a venture accelerator focused on transforming disruptive innovations into high growth companies with global social impact. SKAI actively mentors young entrepreneurs from around the world.
The Hon. George Ariyoshi
Mr. Ariyoshi was the first Asian American to be elected Governor in the United States, serving as the Governor of Hawaii for 14 years. He has served as President of the Bar Association of Hawaii; Chairman of the Western Governor’s Conference; President and Founder of the international Pacific Basin Development Council; the President and Founding Member of the Center for International Commercial Dispute Resolution; Chairman of the Board for the Pacific International Center for High Technology Research (PICHTR); a member of President Clinton’s Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and Negotiations (ACTPN); and a member of the National Public Broadcasting System Board (PBS). Mr. Ariyoshi is the recipient of six honorary doctorates in law and humanities, as well as Japan’s highest decoration, the Order of the Sacred Treasure (First Class).
Jeffrey Watanabe, Esq.
Jeffrey Watanabe is a founder and retired partner of the law firm Watanabe Ing, LLP, which specializes in corporate, business, and technological law in a complex Pan-Pacific cultural environment. Watanabe Ing is recognized as one of the leading law firms in the Pacific. Mr. Watanabe is currently a director of Alexander & Baldwin, Inc.; Chairman of Hawaiian Electric Industries, Inc.; and a member of the board of its subsidiary, American Savings Bank. He also chairs The Nature Conservancy of Hawaii’s Corporate Council for the Environment.
James Ajello is the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Hawaiian Electric Industries (NYSE: HE). Before joining HEI, Mr. Ajello served at Reliant Energy in Houston, Texas, most recently as the Senior Vice President – Business Development, where he led a nationwide expansion of products following the deregulation of Texas’s electric markets. Prior to Reliant, Mr. Ajello was part of the global financial services firm UBS, serving as Senior Banker/Managing Director of the Business Development/Corporate Finance Group of UBS Securities, Inc. and Managing Director of the Energy & Natural Resources Group of UBS Warburg/UBS Securities LLC. Mr. Ajello received his bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York, and his Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Syracuse University.
Gregory Kim has more than 25 years’ experience as a corporate and securities attorney, representing emerging growth companies and public companies in private and public offerings, mergers & acquisitions, SEC filings and reports, venture capital, joint ventures, business formations, and licensing and other technology transactions. He is a founding board member of HiBEAM, an accelerator program for emerging technology companies, and served as a founding director of the Entrepreneurs’ Foundation of Hawaii. Mr. Kim currently serves on the advisory boards of the University of Hawaii Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship (PACE) and Chaminade University Hogan School of Business, and he is also a founder of Business Law Corps, a legal nonprofit focused on helping deserving entrepreneurs with pro bono corporate and business law services. Mr. Kim received a BS in Engineering and Applied Sciences from Yale University, and earned his JD/MBA at U.C. Berkeley. Mr. Kim is recognized as a leading corporate attorney by Best Lawyers of America and Chambers USA.
Mr. Lee brings over 20 years of successful entrepreneurial experience in the medical device business. Prior to joining Eyegenix, he led the research and development efforts at Coalescent Surgical, Inc., a venture-funded medical device company focused on minimally invasive cardiac tissue attachment and fixation that was acquired by Medtronic Inc. Previously, he led development efforts at AneuRx, a leader in the minimally invasive treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysm that was acquired by Valley Lab (a division of Tyco, now Covidien). He also led development efforts at Vivant Medical, a venture-funded company acquired by Medtronic Inc. Mr. Lee currently sits on the executive advisory board for the Institute of Biotechnology at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he received an MS in Mechanical Engineering.
With more than two decades of experience in accounting, finance, and operations, Ellary Kim specializes in the strategic management of early growth. Prior to joining Eyegenix, Mr. Kim was the CFO for ActionPacked Networks and Director of Finance for Referentia Systems. Other senior financial positions include Firetide, where Mr. Kim was involved with the company from startup until the close of venture financing with investments from Silicon Valley’s Menlo Ventures; and Adtech, where he oversaw annual revenue growth from $40M to $150M, and employee expansion from 70 to 330. He received his B.S. in Business Administration from San Francisco State University.
